Threads of Time

Following the ties that thread the Stews to the Shrine

This timeline traces the hidden history of Southwark.  From its Roman roots, to the medieval Stews of Bankside, to the unconsecrated burial ground later remembered as Cross Bones, and the garden that stands today. Each thread reveals a story of survival, stigma, and remembrance, woven across centuries into a fabric of protest and care
